Mary Kinney is a writer, facilitator, naturalist, and professional tired person living in Portland, Oregon, by way of NYC. She regularly cries in planetariums, arranges dried flowers, and makes her own soap. Her current passion project explores the deinstitutionalization of people with intellectual disabilities through memoir, oral history, and investigative journalism. She recently earned her MFA in Creative Nonfiction at The New School, her Urban Naturalist Certificate from the New York Botanical Garden (along with coursework in horticultural therapy and botany) and is currently pursuing her Oregon Master Naturalist certification.
